Pool Chemicals
With today's revolutionized technology there is such a wide variety of pool chemicals available that it is so easy to get confused about what the right product would be to purchase. The truth is that no single product can really effectively take care of all of your pools needs. Selecting the right products for your pool will ensure that you are swimming in clean and healthy water and not risking your health. Pool chemicals assist with such factors as removing bacteria and algae from your pool and thereby maintaining your pools hygiene.
Chemicals are naturally dangerous products and should be used with precaution, reading the labels on your pool chemical holders will therefore ensure that your products are used properly and thereby avoiding any unforeseen accidents. The first rule to keep in mind is that pool chemicals should be kept out of reach of children at all times, if consumed the results can be fatal. For adults, factors to bear in mind when working with pool chemicals are the following; pool chemicals should never be mixed together, they all serve an individual purpose and mixing will result in failure of desired outcome. Secondly, dry pool chemicals should not be mixed with water and all chemicals should be kept out of contact with bare skin, in many instances, use of gloves will be the better option to prevent skin reactions.
There are three main types of pool chemicals that one needs to use for your pool. These chemicals all work in conjunction with one another to produce a dirt free and healthy pool. The first of these pool chemicals is chlorine tablets. The tablets are placed in the skimmer of the pool and usually one would need to change the tablets on a weekly basis, in most instances, 3 to 4 tablets are used at a time. Chlorine tablets are found in two sizes, one and three inch. Chlorine tablets are purchasable in bucket amount of approximately 50 tablets per bucket and they can be quite costly depending on the brand which is used. The advantage of chlorine tablets is that they are able to successfully kill all the germs in your pool; however, they also increase the level of acid in your pool. When your pools acid level increases it results in corrosion of your metal parts which in turn results in your pool turning a green color . Solving of this problem entails using a second pool chemical, namely, alkaline powder.
When adding alkaline powder as your pool chemical you should always take note to read the instructions on the box carefully. If you use too much alkaline your pool will become cloudy and the level of germs will increase thereby creating health problems. Using the right amount of alkaline powder is therefore vital for any pool owner. The last of the pool chemicals and probably the most essential is that of chlorine powder. Chlorine powder is used in large amounts in your pool and its main function is too destroy germs like bacteria and algae and prevent them from multiplying. The pool chemical alkaline should be placed in the pool overnight to kill the algae in the pool. The following morning chlorine powder can be added which will prevent any further algae and bacteria from forming. These products are essentially to be used together as they each have their own specific purpose for which they are designed.
